Setting up libraries on LMDE

Hi.
I am thinking about moving from WIndows 10 to LMDE and have been trying to get a Plex server set up. I’m a newbie to Linux in general so I’m sure I’m just doing something stupid.

I can set up a libraray but when it comes to adding a folder, I can see the external drive but not the folders in it. I guess I need to set a permission for Plex to access the folders but can’t see how to do that.

If someone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful

Oh, by the way: Linux Mint is not supported for Plex. Better pick another Linux variety.
