It used to be possible to rename a file, such as a movie, and have Plex refresh and see that new filename without triggering Plex to show it as a recently added item.
Currently, if I change a file name (say, ‘Blade Runner.mkv’ to ‘Blade Runner (1982)’) and do a library Scan, Plex treats it as a new item.
Is there any way to get around this?
Plex marks “Unavailable” whenever I change file or folder names. Plex docs seem to say refresh will fix it (e.g. support.plex.tv/articles/200289306-scanning-vs-refreshing-a-library/, but I must manually reconcile duplicate records. Plex creates a new record and I must re-edit its metadata with my own “Locked” fields, which are missing in the new record. Very tedious. Please fix or at least document behavior correctly.
