I’ve got Plex running on a Synology DS918+, which I use to house all the media and run the server. I’ve run into a little bit of an issue where my synology isn’t powerful enough to burn subtitles onto a file.
In order to work around this, I’ve set up my desktop which is running a Ryzen 7 2700x to run a second server for the library on the NAS. The desktop server is accessing the same movies and TV shows as the Synology and creating a second server with the same media.
So far, so good. Everything works as expected. However, I’ve gone in and changed some of the metadata of the Synology (movie posters, sort titles, etc.) and these changes are not reflected in the desktop server.
I was wondering if there was any way to mirror the metadata of the Synology to the desktop. Is there any way for me to point the desktop server to read the same metadata as the Synology, much in the same way I’m doing with the library.
My desktop metadata is at:
C:\Users\haris\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Metadata
My Synology metadata is at:
Z:\Library\Application Support\Plex Media Server\Metadata
Could I point the desktop to read from the second one? This way if I add a movie or show, I can just change the poster in Synology and it will be reflected in the second server.
The reason I want to run 2 servers is because the Synology is always on, but my Desktop is not always turned on. So when I have an issue with the Synology, I can just turn on the desktop and stream off of that.
Thanks
