Change my email

My Email provider has changed and now I’m locked out of the email I created my account with. I can’t log into my account and when it sends a passcode to log in, it sends it to my old email. All of my devices and my movie library is linked to my old account. Please help!

Why not? If this is your account, you surely have the password for it.

If you lost access to the mail account and forgot the password, I think nobody can help you.

I was logged into Google when i opened plex and it created a new account. My old account is bornloser@wowway.com and this new account is bornloser@astound.net. I tried logging in to the old account with the password and it wouldn’t let me in. so i pressed forgot password and it sent it to my old email which i can’t access anymore.

Use a browser tab in incognito/privacy mode, without logging into a google account first.

Didn’t work, kept saying username or password was incorrect.

Did you pick “Continue with Email” when logging in?
You must not use “Continue with Google” or one of the other options.
If you had 2FA activated, you must also have your authenticator app ready.

What is a 2FA? Yes i selected CWE when i tried to log in. Will it be easier to just connect my home server and librarys to the new account?

If you didn’t have a Plex Pass, it might be easier to just switch the account.

I don’t have plex pass. My plex server is on my old laptop but its connected to a My Cloud storage that has my movies and music on it. If i remember correctly I had used google to create my original account and i changed my email for google because of my email change and that’s where the problem started.
I’ll just change everything over to the new account, I was hoping it would be an easy quick fix. Thanks for your time.

As far as I know, your Google account is its own email. Sounds like you got stuck in “account hell”.

I assume that means Windows, right?

You need to open each Plex client device/app you have and log it out of the old account.

Now shut down the Windows Plex server using its task tray icon.
Then perform the procedure as described in here: You need to reclaim your server, but don't dare to touch the Windows Registry
to remove the server from the old account.

Once you’ve reclaimed the server into the new account,
open each Plex client device/app and sign them into the new account as well.

Did the second method now i just have a circle spining on a black screen. for over 20 minites.

Can i just install plex server on my new laptop? and attach my new plex account to it?

I got tired of trying to fix it so i just downloaded the plex server to my new laptop and started all over under my new account. I have to fix the matches on my movies but at least its up and working now. Thanks for your help.
