Change Plex Media Server cache directory used for Sync

Currently when items are converted for Sync they are stored in ‘/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache/Transcode/Sync+’.

Is there anyway for me to change this folder so I can store my Sync’d/converted files in a different directory?

The ‘Transcoder temporary directory’ option doesn’t seem to help.

Thanks

The easiest way on linux I found was to simply symlink the folder elsewhere. Doing that I was able to move mine to my zpool which as a lot more room than my OS drive.

Ahhh! That seems simple enough! I’ll give that a try. Thanks

EDIT: Works perfectly! Thanks!

Hello,
I’ve been trying for hours many diferent ways but still not working for me.

Did you use fstab to mount the symlink ?
which command did you use ?

  • mount --bind ?

I’m unable to make it work, seems like the path is too long for “/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache/Transcode/”

can someone dumb down how to change the sync directory? currently it wants to use my boot drive which is only a 120gb ssd would like to make it my drive I: or e: which are 14tb and 10tb so would have much more room. I changed the transcode location to d: which is a 500gb SSD but can’t figure out how to move the synced files location.

Many thanks

L: D: , etc are for Windows, --bind is for Linux.

Afraid you’s asking in the wrong area. I’m sorry.
