tl/dr: I have 2 music libraries pointing to the same folder using different Scanners. When the scanner/agent was changed, I expected them to match, but there was no change. Refresh Metadata not doing anything.
Longer story: I know I had upgraded the music library scanner once (as it no longer is an option), but I discovered it had somehow reverted back as some functions in in Plexamp were unusable. I don’t think I reverted it back, as a handful of popularity data existed, but it’s possible. So I decided it was time to clean up the library’s tags, and I created a second music library to monitor the results using the upgraded scanner. Once I mostly cleaned up the tags, I changed the scanner/agent to the newer ones and refreshed the metadata. I expected the libraries to match, but they do not. You can see in the screenshot the number of artists differs, there’s different duplicates and fewer/different artwork. Digging further, the popularity data I was expecting to add has only been added on a handful more files.
Is there any other way to get the metadata to update w/o reverting to the Plex Dance? I would like to not trigger another Sonic Analysis, as the data already exists on the old library, and I believe the dance will think those files are new. If there is no solution, I will just turn on the Sonic Analysis and let the server do that for a week.
