Changed My Password and LOST ACCESS!

Not just me, but everyone I shared libraries with!!!

I have a Plex server running on a seedbox. Last night I received an email from Plex about a device logging in to my account from Stockholm, Sweden. I did not recognize this activity, so I changed my Plex password (using my Plex client) and checked “Sign out connected devices”. I was logged out and logged in again with my new credentials, and suddenly, my server is “Unreachable”. Not only by me, but by everyone I shared my Plex libraries with! I can still view their libraries, but not my own!

I tried restarting the Plex server but that didn’t help. FTP and rTorrent are both still working, apparently. Should I reinstall Plex server? Would that erase all my metadata and user lists?

This thread seems to be by someone who encountered the same problem. Not very encouragingly, it has no replies :weary:

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks for replying, I’ll try that and update here.

Just so I know, did I do something wrong? Is there a better way to change my password so I can avoid this in the future?

when you change your password, and sign out all of the devices, that signs out your server too.

this means you need to sign it back in again with the new password.

the only way to avoid that is to not sign out all devices, but since you suspect an unauthorized user, changing password and signing out all devices is the safest thing to do.

so, no you did nothing wrong, you just didn’t consider that your server would be signed out too.
