I created a server on my Linux partition (I dual-boot with Windows 11) and tried to add a library for Movies, but I get the error message “Changes could not be saved”. I’ve seen many forum posts with this same issue and based on those responses I waited after creating the server before trying to add a library. However, it’s now been 2+ hours since I created the server and I still receive the same error message; I was able to set up a server on the Windows partition and add a library just a few minutes later, so it’s not like the computer itself is being really slow. I’m running Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon on a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 with all updates installed.
Please stop using Mint.
- It’s not supported
- It’s flaky, just as you see now, without reason.
Recommended alternative - Ubuntu
BTW… same thing happens with ubuntu 22.04 ![]()
Within both the current beta (1.31.2.6739) and public (1.31.1.6733) builds I can no longer save any library settings (movie, tv or music).

I’m using English (UK) language. I’m not able to edit any library and change its settings.
Ping me in your thread about language issues and we will investigate.
Independent of PMS version, this behavior in Linux Mint is very common.
It’s one of the reasons Mint is not a supported distribution.
Well, that’s frustrating. I don’t know if I want to move back to Ubuntu just for this, since I moved away from Ubuntu for a reason and haven’t had any other issues with Mint. Thanks for your response, though.
Have you simply tried restarting Plex?
Not sure if this was addressed to me or @anon5074910 (we have different issues), but yes, I did restart Plex, and even rebooted my computer. It didn’t help.
Yes. Quite a few times.
There is an issue here. I’m trying to find something concrete but cannot.
Given what I see in the logs, and knowing the previous version works flawlessly when creating a new server, I don’t know what else to say
For what it’s worth I had the same error in my logs when creating a new server in supported Ubuntu.
1.30.2.6563 works fine for a new server setup.
Just got out of my meeting.
This is a regression. It’s been set as priority 1 by the team
It doesn’t occur when upgrading or bouncing around different versions.
It only occurs on a completely fresh environment.
(or when you remove user plex, /var/lib/plexmediaserver, and --purge when removing the package)
