Hi, i have been using the Plex cloud option on my Plex Media Server. I would like to disable this and get Plex to link to a drive on my PC so I can use my local media. I can’t see how to do this.
I have unlinked my Plex cloud but can’t find the option to choose my local drive on my PC
Any help will be greatly appreciated
You can’t “choose” your local drive in the cloud server.
You need to install the Plex Server software onto your PC. (Download above)
Thanks OttoKerner,
I did that and chose my local drive.
When i tried to log in, I got the “login loop” so I assumed that it was because of me being signed into Plex cloud also. I have shares on Plex. I want to keep these and also have the local media which i would like to share with friends etc.
OttoKerner,
I can’t get remote access or claim server because it won’t let me log in
Important: don’t use Microsoft Edge as your web browser.
Directly after installation, open this URL in a different web browser (Chrome or Firefox)
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
If you already had an installation of Plex on this computer in the past, it may be still assigned to a different plex account. In this case, you’ll need to perform this procedure to remove the old account information from the registry:

Thanks,
Do I uninstall Plex Media Server first and then remove the old account from the registry?

Not necessary. Just quit/end Plex Server with its tray icon. (just closing the web browser won’t suffice)

[edit: removed email address]
Which web browser are you using?
Are you using any browser add-ons like LastPass or AdBlock or …?
I am using Chrome.
I have AdBlock but I have it “turned off” for Plex
Any 3rd party firewalls or anti virus software?
Particularly if these try to scan encrypted network packets, they render the packets invalid by doing so.
Have you verified that your computer’s clock/date is correctly set? Otherwise a lot of network communication will fail.
I have done all that, after reading other posts etc.
As i have said, i have no problems logging in to my Cloud Plex server but It won’t let me sign into my local PMS

Can you remember moving the Plex data folder to a different location, back then when you installed Plex server locally the first time?
Is your Windows system volume on a different drive letter than C: ?
You could try the ‘nuclear option’:

Have you seen this page?

Otto,
Thanks for staying with me and helping.
I didn’t move the the Plex data folder or anything when i installed my Plex locally.
Window System etc. is on C:
I think that I will try the nuclear option tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks again
Mike
Otto,
I have uninstalled my PMS and deleted the Registry key & also deleted the Local app data.
I then rebooted my laptop and re-installed PMS
It seemed to take a long time to load (took me 3/4 times to get it too load)
It opens with this web page “http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html”
It opens on the login page
When I try to log in, i get the login loop again
I don’t get any other error messages only is thsi
I am at a loss at what to do next
