Plex was installed on my Synology which was assigned ip 192.168.1.2 by Verizon router and all was fine. Somehow the router rebooted and the synology was assigned the new ip 192.168.1.25. Plex cannot locate Synology since it is still looking for 192.168.1.2 and I cannot figure how to change this in the “Remote Access” section. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both on Synology and on devices (ROKU, Amazon fire) but Plex continues to try 192.168.1.2 which is, BTW, unused on the router. How can I tell Plex that the Synology is located at 192.168.1.25?
Do you have the rights in your Verizon router to manually assign the .2 address to your Synology device? It might save you some future headaches also.
Cannot figure how to change Synology from .25 to .2 in router.
I can create a new, static ip at .2 but would have to remove .25 first because you can’t have two ip addresses with the same physical address. Also afraid that port forwarding rules might be affected.
Net is I am still stuck. Thanks anyway.
The Synology Assistant will locate it on your LAN.
