I am having a weird situation going on here. I can access plex when i am local and I go to the ip of the device and http://192.168.1.23:32400/ works, but when i try to access it with my static ip I get
I cannot figure out how to fix ithow come I can access everything fine its just when i change port to 12973 which is what the 32400 is going to works fine. Its just the 32400 port is causing a huge hang up
correct and when i type in static ip address and change port over to the 12973 it works and i can access it. Using the 32400 I cannot
PMS only listens to port 32400 on your LAN. It will never listen to the external port number.
It is unclear why 12973 is working.
What is the IP address of your computer? Is it also on 192.168.1.x ?
Yes it is 192.168.1.1 http://bit.ly/2KTmDqe
That doesn’t make any sense. That looks like the Synology configuration. I would like to see the network configuration for your computer / laptop
What does your LAN topography look like? (the path from your computer to where you connect to your ISP)
Its cable modem to wireless router and then the nas hooked up to the router. unless you mean something else
Yes i know what a static ip is and not dynamic. If I used your 32400 internal port before my UPnP is 12793. So its not awkward its working. I am acsessing that site locally that way not externally remotely. If I want to access it remotely i put that port in where it would be 32400 and it works. I am not the only person on your forums that had this problem, there was other people as well. And someone else had the success of doing the same thing I was doing which gave me the idea to do it
Please explain exactly what port 12793 is for?
On all direct LAN connections on the same subnet the URL to connect to is http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web
There is no need of UPNP whatsoever
Ok I uninstalled and reinstalled everything and wiped the drives. Upon installation of the plex it leads me to my static ip - http://47.23.112.XXX:32400/web and stays loading and says cannot connect. Now you change that 32400 to 12973 it allows you to connect.
that is the port that the router is upnp to 12973
Ok check pm I cannot post it here cause its static
I’m sorry but I have come to the point where I believe you need a level of tech support we are unable to provide.
I am asking questions which are not being answered.
I ask for the IP address of your computer, and you respond with what appears to be the IP address of your Synology or tell me the IP address of your computer is 192.168.1.1
On one hand you appear to not understand LAN networking but then bring up UPNP. You seem fixated on connecting to a port which is not the port you should use in the LAN URL in your browser. It is only important to Plex.tv for remote access. You’re not even at that point yet.
We are here to help with Plex problems during setup. I have no idea your level of LAN knowledge or mastery.
I am sorry but I can help no further.
I feel like some terminology is being used incorrectly and causing some confusion.

http://StaticIP:32400/web
