Changing the DNS on the Airplay for the Plexconnect now means when streaming via Airplay from an Ipad, the streaming is broken.

 

Is this normal behaviour and is there a way around this to use both?

No, it is not normal. I have Plexconnect running right now and can Airplay and Mirror as usual. Could something else be the problem?

Correct, this is not normal behavior. I'm able to airplay to the ATV without issues and plexconnect is running.

Can you expand on what you mean by broken, dastrix80?  When you attempt to Airplay content to your AppleTV, is the device showing up in the destination list? If so, does the video not start, stutter etc.?  If the device is simply missing from your list try a reboot of your ATV and your devices.  I utilize Airplay quite a lot around the house on multiple ATV's, iPhones & iPads - while it's a fantastic thing and works the majority of the time without issue, I do have to do the odd restart to fix missing destinations.

So what happens is, I usually stream from my Ipad 2 using Airplay, motogp videos from the motogp.com website. This works perfectly when I had the DNS set to my router. When I changed the ATV3 DNS to my NAS, which is what runs the PlexConnect, the Airplay had broken, as in, when you select the Apple TV from the Ipad to stream to, it just sits there, ticking over doing nothing.

Perhaps ill try again tonight, maybe it was a one off. I saw a few posts on google.com indicating users had similiar experiences..

Changed it back, appears to be working! maybe a bug....

Can you shutdown PlexConnect, change the 8.8.8.8 IP in settings.cfg to that of your ISP's DNS server, and restart PlexConnect please.

I am wondering if the default Google server is masking your location and causing it to be location blocked.

OK, ill give it a go. It did work last night in its default state though
