Channel mapping - across borders

I understand that if channels are missing in the EPG, we should report that through the Google Form to have them added. However, I am in Canada near the border of the USA and I receive a lot of US channels over the air. With Plex, I am not able to use those channels unless I give up all of my Canadian channels. Why can’t I use the EPG from both? What harm could this possibly have? I know the interface may be more complicated for this due to duplicate channels on the same channel and virtual channel, but Plex already appears to try to guess the channel based on the channel name/code anyway.

I have attached two images, one with my location set to Canada, and one with my location set to USA.

Use a postal code somewhere in the middle of the area between Canada and the US. There are other threads on the forum of users in similar situations that once they found a good postal code were able to have both sets of channels listed in their guide. Same has Ben found with users between states in the US.

Thanks for the help johnm_ColaSC

I tried a postal code on the border (Niagara Falls, ON L2J 2L3) and I loose the channels local to me (Waterloo, ON N2T 1W5) but I do gain the US channels. To me, this sounds like the range on the channels far from me is just not far enough. I don’t understand why thy need to be limited or why there cannot be an override.

I tried a postal code in the middle (Hamilton, ON L8P 1A1) and it has worked for all channels I receive. However, I am moving the antenna higher soon and I expect to receive more channels and they again my be too far away to show up in the EPG I receive for this new postal code. An example is channel 33 (8.1 virtual) which is from Wingham, ON N0G 2W0 which I suspect will now be out of range with the EPG using the Hamilton postal code, but physically in range when the antenna is higher.

I think that the fact that people have to come to the forums to ask for help on this justifies changing the way it works.
