Channels disappearing from livetv-dvr

Server Version#: 1.15.1.710 (Mac) and previous on FreeBSD
Player Version#: ALL (iOS, Web, Roku 3 and ATV4 etc)

Bug follows first, followed by 2 RFEs

Seems there is a problem with the tuner, just recently a load of channels disappeared, it seems that the Guide may be incomplete and missing the channels despite refreshing and delete/re-add … My deduction is that the incoming guide being downloaded doesn’t have the channels and therefore Plex has made those channels unavailable. They should not be unavailable… please fix this… if channel information is not there you have the tuner provided channel name so use it and allow an ‘unknown content’ tag so the channel can still be played. This is also a problem when the guide is missing information, was unable to record a number of programs because the channel guide was disabled.

RFE1: It wouldn’t be a bad idea to allow ‘manual’ recording (where one can program a channel and time slot manually) in instances where the guide is unavailable.

RFE2: Living between 2 transmission zones and a high powered antenna results in me being able to receive so called ‘duplicate’ channels… I cannot select ‘Australia - NSW - South Coast’ and ‘Australia - NSW - Wollongong’ channel mappings even though I can receive all the channels in both regions (which generally display the same programming - however both suffer interference from local sources and solar radiation at different times of day when I might change between 7 HD Wollongong (CH60) to 7PRIME HD South Coast (CH360)… Can we please be allowed to select more than one region (perhaps in ‘advance settings’))

Thanks,

Michelle

This says it all…

Then there are the mappings…

And finally, no mapping for ABC/SBS etc…

And it’s impossible to save enabled without a mapping…

Then there are the holes in the guide… (iOS screenshot)

To the admins/staff… where are the mappings stored? Is it possible to edit them directly? I’m searching the system but can’t find either the channel names or any mapping file using any sane search… guessing it’s in one of the DB files that are downloaded from your servers on demand? Can we have the ability to do stuff offline/manually in the instances where external access is not available or when someone gets it wrong there, or better yet for those of us who have a clue and might have added TV stations/channels that you can use but are not available to those of us with ‘special’ setups and skills…?

And as a matter of interest I just selected ‘Vic - Ballarrat’ instead of my actual areas of both ‘NSW - South Coast’ and ‘NSW - Wollongong’ and got the closet channel mapping I have ever seen only missing 2 channels of ‘SBS Radio 1’ and ‘SBS Radio 2’ … the only downside is localised channels come up with ‘- Vic’… but as the content is likely identical and the timezones are the same I see no reason not to use it… perhaps you’d like to look at providing the ability for users to edit the channel list - specifically the mappings as I also located them finally and as I suspected they’re in a .db (com.plexapp.plugins.library.db) and very very broken for my area.

I’m suddenly having the same problem too, all ABC and SBS channels are now missing from the ‘Queensland - Toowoomba’ mappings.

You folks need to report your issues with the EPG here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeUaYIb0YOXtKyMHhTrEGc11gJO_bQFqp_S3KANAf95wEhbMQ/viewform

I no longer think it’s the EPG… looks more like an internal mapping database issue as the channel maps are not part of the epg file and changing. Location resolves it. Note also on my system I have 3 plex servers… only one can autoupdate… the autoupdate one has lost the most channels.

Well I can confirm a month later still not fixed.
