Server Version#: 1.32.7.7621 (Running on Debian 12)
Player Version#: Tizen 5.71.1
Last night and today, 2 of my friends that stream from me both ran into the same problem. They clicked on a show and in the top right corner, it displayed ‘Checking connection speed to PlexServer’ and just got the spinning wheel of death.
Other people were streaming around the same time on Roku, Android and Apple TV and I called them and they said streaming has been rock solid with zero problems. I quickly realized that whatever is going on, it’s only impacting folks using Samsung TVs (Tizen app).
Friend # 1 backed out of it. Waited a few minutes and tried again and it was fine. It’s still fine as of this morning.
Friend # 2, no matter what he tried streaming last night and this morning, it kept giving him that exact error. Nothing would play. I walked him through disabling that ‘Automatically Adjust Quality’ setting and when he tried streaming a movie, his Plex client threw this error on the screen: Playback Error [existsOrThrow] Value is undefined or null
I decided to gather some logs from his client so he turned on informational logging and selected my server and when he tried playing something, it started playing fine. We turned off the logging and everything continued playing fine.
Attaching log files. Friend # 2 was trying this around 10:33am eastern today (November 10) and friend # 1 around 8pm November 9.
Came searching for this. Been trying to troubleshoot with a friend for an hour on THE EXACT SAME thing. 2023 Framed Samsung TV, new Plex app install, circle of death with a note about speed test.

… eventually it started working (no idea how/why) but I’d like to know what’s up with that setting causing issues on Samsung TVs.
I have the same issue on my Samsung TV Plex App for weeks. If I use plex through the FireTV game cube there is no issue, but doesn’t work on Samsung TV App. It appears to need a higher power for fixing this. Tried disconnecting the quality setting without success.
