Child-only movies, help

Simple question I’ve searched and read about before but have yet to get a clear answer to my problem.

I’ve tried creating a child account because I want my kids to only see those kid-friendly movies. The problem is I had to create a separate folder and drop kid movies in that and then create a child account linked to only those libraries. It works fine but that means I’m doubling some movies on my NAS and that’s taking up a lot of space. Is there a better way?

If they’re using managed user accounts you can apply a restriction profile to them; this will allow them to view only TV/Movie content with specific content ratings:

Right, but the catch there is they can watch SOME PG-13 movies and not others. Just trying to avoid the doubling and cleanly accomplish this issue.

Thanks for the reply!

Then this topic may be of assistance, specifically the “Labels” section:

I am reading that one right now thank you.

That would require me to go through each movie and add the family friendly label correct?

Not necessarily; you can select multiple items at a time (hover over poster, click small circle in the top-left) and then edit certain things as a group, including the sharing label.

[Edit]
Sorry, I got my selection methods confused; corrected above.

Oh, that’s a wonderful feature I didn’t realize. Thank you!!

No problem. Also keep in mind that you can use advanced filters to do things like this to make it easier to narrow down media by content rating:

For example, if you wanted to apply a label to all media with particular content ratings easily.

I don’t have ratings in everything (even though I use MetaZ to pre-fill the meta content). So I have to go through honestly.

Thanks again.

In that case, an advanced filter like this can help you track down media without content ratings:

That worked great thanks again!

Now if I could just get some help with remote access. LOL

No problem, glad it worked.

For your remote access issue, I’d recommend creating a new topic and providing as much detail as possible.
