Chipmunk Commercials.

on the Android App when playing live TV some of the commercials sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks. They play fast voices are fast and they pause…

ditto. does not always happen though. I have SD Prime and PS 1.9.x on Linux. Plex client is AndriodTV. Anyone have any insight?

Same here, but playing remotely from a NVIDIA Shield Server running a HDHomerun Prime on a local Shield client. Oddly, playback has been great on the actual programs but when commercials come on, pauses and the “Weak Signal” alert comes on screen frequently. Is this an Android TV related issue only?

I’ve experience the same and have expressed this to the devs. They haven’t seen it yet and I can’t see anything in the logs files to help them.

Do any of you guys see anything in the logs that could help the devs?

I also experience this problem. What I also notice sometimes is that if you tune into a channel during commercials (you’ll have good audio) and once the real show comes back on it will have slow/chipmunk audio.

My best guess what’s happening is that there’s an audio codec change between commercials and the actual show program and the PMS can’t gracefully handle it.

I also have this problem. I have Nvidia shield clients. Debian server, Mac server and CentOS server. HDHR cable card Xfinity cable. it only happens on channels that are encoded (AVC). it also never happens in web client

I have definitely seen this as well from my Nvidia Shield clients running against a Centos server that is using HDHR Primes with Comcast cable - never use live TV on other clients like IOS or Android mobile or Mac and Windows - will try from those to see if I have same issue. I would agree that it definitely is triggered by transition to commercial - and for me at least - stops when commercial ends and scheduled program resumes.

I thought this would be fixed by now (NNNOOOTTT) … very annoying.

if any one is working on this, I can provide raw ts files from hd home run and comcast that reproduce the error

Can you provide a small sample hat reproduces this? If so you can pm me the information where I can download a sample and I’ll get this looked at for you.

Yes I did get them and THANK YOU!

Carlo

PS I’ve filed an internal ticket on this as well.

If you need any more video clips (Comcast, HdHomerun) in the future just let me know. Thank you for your help .

After 2 hours on two different Nvidia shields on two channels known for “chipmunk” I have had no problems! I think it is FIXED!!!

I spoke too soon. 5 hours in and chipmunk “not fixed” sorry

Any update on this? I don’t have any problems with recordings, it’s just live tv.

It’s a client issue the devs have been looking into.

I have no other info other than that but I can say I get this quite often myself during commercials on certain channels.

Thanks for the update.

This problem is listed under several different discussions. I’m fairly new so I have no clue on when to expect an update, but it looks like the problem has been going on for a while. Last night I upgraded my shield tv to the January 3rd released android player app (connected to my ubuntu server and hdhomerun prime) and my occasional “chipmunk” commercial problem is now an even more frequent “super slo-mo” problem. Plex - please help/update, the slow-mo is worse than the chipmunk. At lease in chipmunk mode the video feed caught up without touching anything, in slow-mo the video stream falls behind and needs user interaction to advance.

I’m using the latest beta PMS, should I try backing this out for the public release?
