This bug in Plex for Windows player was reported earlier this year here and here, but with no acknowledgment. The bug still exists in the latest Plex for Windows player builds, so I’m posting a new thread in the hopes that this bug will be fixed.
Repro Steps:
- Launch Plex for Windows player.
- Select a movie / TV episode in a library.
- Click the Edit button to launch the Edit dialog for that movie / TV episode.
- Click either the Poster or Background tabs to access the Poster or Background image selector sheets.
- Click choose an image.
Result:
The Windows file selector modal dialag appears. However, this dialog and the Plex for Windows player app starts to behave strangely from this point forward:
- The modal dialog doesn’t have focus.
- Nothing happens when you click the controls within the modal dialog (such as Open button, the Cancel button, the Close dialog button, etc.).
- Pressing the Tab key moves focus to each of the controls of the Plex for Windows player app, but never moves focus to any of the controls of the Windows file selector.
- Because you can’t close the Windows file selector modal dialog, you also can’t click on any of the controls in the Plex for Windows player app. The only way to get Plex to start working correctly again is to terminate the app in Windows Task Manager and then restart it.
Expected Result:
The Windows file selector modal dialog shouldn’t cause these focus problems. Users should be able to interact with this dialog normally and should be able to close it to access the parent app (Plex for Windows player).
