Choose the plexamp layout not dependent on window size?

Currently there seems to be 3(?) different ways that the desktop player can display itself, depending on the size of the window:

I personally prefer layout number 2, but to get that layout i cannot have the plexamp window maximized on my monitor.

Is there a way to override the layout so it doesn’t have to depend on the window size?

currently i’m resizing the window with a script so that it is taller than the monitor, but ideally i would be able to handle it more natively.

in the FAQ it say i can change the size but i cannot find the option in the settings menu so i’m assuming it is outdated (2017).

Can I change the app size or hide it altogether?

The Size selector in the app menu allows you to choose the app size:

  • Nihilist - Don’t show the app UI at all. You can still control it with media keys.
  • Hipster - The smallest visible UI. You might like this on a small laptop screen.
  • Regular - A normal, default size for the app.
  • Roo - Big and bold, because that’s how it’s done Down Under!

Where is that one located?

Ah, yes. that is indeed a legacy post, supporting Plexamp v1.x
A lot has changed since then. In fact, it was almost a complete rewrite from 1.x to 2.x
and we’re currently at v4.x

so i’m assuming the answer is no, you cannot override the layout depending on the window size?

i was hoping there might be a startup option or something.

Unfortunately not.

alright, i made a feature suggestion so maybe it can be made at some point in the future :person_shrugging:
