Plexamp no longer retaining window resize after upgrading to 4.4 Windows 11

Since upgrading to Plexamp 4.4 on Windows 11, Plexamp does not retain window sizing after restarting the application. Please advise.

hmm, can anyone else confirm? not seeing the issue on macOS at least, and they both got the electron update.

I’m on windows 10 21h2 and it’s fine for me, both when snapped and free floating. not sure about win11, I’m not masochistic enough to install it yet

Is there any other info I can provide to assist? The behavior started immediately after the upgrade. It happens literally every time I restart the app.

I’m on win11 pro 2H’22 with plexamp 4.4.0 … after resizing or maximizing and then closing plexamp, it restarts same size as when it was closed … so not seeing this issue

are you cleanly quitting the app?

Yes, right-click closing from the task bar.

The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the app settings have because corrupted, so a reinstall might resolve the issue?

I tried a reinstall but no go. I also made sure to clear out any leftovers manually in the appdata folder.

I’m getting the same behavior. The window shrinks in size with every close/reopen.

I’m still having the same issue after upgrading to 4.5.0 this morning.

I have some new info regarding this issue. I have a dual monitor setup and have always run Plexamp on my 2nd monitor. I went through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling with 4.5.1 this morning to see if I could resolve this issue and discovered that Plexamp does retain window size if it’s on my primary monitor. It is only when Plexamp is on my secondary monitor that it does not retain window size between sessions.

Be sure to have PlexAmp completely exited.

C:\Users\insert_your_user_account\AppData\Roaming\Plexamp\

copy and paste this line above into a Windows file explorer window, swap out “insert_your_user_account” with your windows user account, and open MainWindow.json with Notepad. You can view and edit any sizing issues here. If something is locked, change to true or false accordingly, ctrl + s to save when done.

Reopen PlexAmp to see results.

Nothing locked. It just ignores those values if opening on my second monitor. The height and width values change as soon as I open plexamp after it was closed on my second monitor. They do not change if closed and reopened on my primary monitor.

Same with my situation. I just updated to 4.5.1 and opened then MainWindow.json file. I didn’t see any “locked” tags and isMaximized as well as isFullScreen are both false. With the json file open in Notepad++ I opened Plexamp which opened as a smaller window again. When I closed Plexamp, it then updated the MainWindow.json file with the new, smaller dimensions (since I didn’t change the window size before closing). Plexamp was on my second (of three) monitors.

I’ve been running 4.5.1 on both MacOS 10.15.7 and Windows 11, but personally I’ve yet to have window positioning nor resize issues on Windows 11, ONLY on Mac. I actually suspected my resizing issues to be a MacOS issue, however now that I see Windows users have issues with window size and display priority, there definitely seems to be some issues with PlexAmp itself. @elan any advice or insight of advanced configuration we can admin on our end to fix multiple display priorities as well as any syntax values we can adjust in our .json file?

This problem still persists in 4.5.2. Any word on if this is being looked into, or is there a process to enter this as a bug someplace?

Updated to 4.5.3, still have the case of the incredible shrinking Plexamp.

Check to see if you have SIDE BY SIDE LAYOUT turned on or off:

I had it enabled, but disabling it makes no difference. I really wish the powers at be at Plex would acknowledge this bug. It is specifically happening when you have multiple monitors and use plex on a monitor other than your primary.
