When watching media on my Chromecast with Google TV the playback will stop and the circle will start spinning together with the message my network connection is not fast enough. Sometimes after 10min, sometimes after 30 min. It makes no difference if I watch a 720p tv show or a 4k movie.
The only way to continue is to go back to the menu and resume playback.
My Chromecast is connected to my 5ghz wifi network. Speedtests show me around 300mbit. When watching with VLC, Emby or Kodi the playback doesn’t stop.
I’m running the Linuxserver plex docker. I tried a fresh install and also tried with the official plex docker. The result is the same.
I’ve attached the logs.
Server Version#: 1.21.1.3842
Player Version#: 8.11.0.22186
Similar issue here.
Using the same server, same file, same TV, same WiFi, same Plex settings with a FireTV 4K works flawlessly.
Looked at the network usage and noticed that while the FireTV keeps buffering at a fairly constant speed, the Chromecast with GoogleTV buffers slowly at first, then buffers at high speed a big chunk, then only sporadically buffers at low speed.
Well spotted if the DNS is the issue. I did not consider this and I have been using 1.1.1.1 as main and 8.8.8.8 as secondary in my router.
I would really be annoyed if I was forced to revert to ISP DNS just because of this
