Chromecast Issues

I have searched the forum and nothing helpful. My chromecast works with everything else such as netflix, prime etc.

I use the plex app on my Iphone as a remote control, so to play stuff on my tv from the plex app. It was working before the new app update but now there are issues every other day.

SO LET ME LIST

  1. Sometimes I can cast sometimes I can’t
  2. Sometimes it just buffers and freezes and restarting does nothing.
  3. Sometimes it plays and there is no sound.

Is anyone having this issue? Any one have any idea how to fix this?

There are other folks with castings issues. Not all are solved but may have the same symptoms. If you can provide your mobile app logs after trying to do so it would help devs figure out what is causing the issues.

Which model chromecast do you have?

I have the same problems. Still can’t cast since the last update. I hope it can be fixed soon. I bought the lifetime Plex.

@BigWheel fyi, this cast issue was reported way back when the newly redesigned app was released. I’ve been using an old apk because of this reason. I just updated again to see if this was fixed by now and it still isn’t. Casting from a Pixel 9 Pro Fold to a 2018 Vizio TV with cast built in. It’s been working since 2018 just fine. The new app won’t do it but the old apk from February 2025 works just fine. It connects, shows the logo on the tv but when I hit play , nothing happens and the scroll bar on the app remains stuck a 0s. I can’t skip ahead either. I’m attaching my logs as well.
