Echoing all of the above. Purchased an HDHomeRun but fortunately only purchased a month of Plex Pass along with it. Without this feature, combined with how misleading it is I definitely will not be continuing my subscription.

With PMP being discontinued, will you finally make live t.v on Chromecast a priority?

Built a monster PC to be my Plex server, installed a Hauppage quad tuner card, Mohu antenna, etc., etc., got everything set up today and how disappointed I was to see that you canā€™t cast live TV from your phone. Whatā€™s the point of all of what I did if I canā€™t watch live TV on myā€¦ wait for itā€¦ TV?

Extremely misleading. I bought a lifetime plex pass and a tuner specifically to cast live tv to my many chromecasts. At least tell us why this is not a feature and if it will be implemented.

Seriously Iā€™d be OK with a price addon for Live TV for use on all devices such as Chromecast but with one caveat, they make much needed updates to their Live TV user interface.

  1. Power off/on - auto retune, when I power off or close PLEX player on my devices and then power/open the app back up PLEX LIVE TV will goto the grid view of the last channel I was watching. It should auto-tune to the last open channel and resume normal Live TV streaming. Every other app I use, Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, Sling TV will resume playing the content that was streaming when I powered off my NVidia Shield.

  2. Channel Up/Down while viewing a channel. Allow us to press channel up or down to the next LiveTV channel without exitiing to the grid view.

  3. Channel rollover - when you hit the bottom or the top of the channel listings in grid view it should roll over to the bottom or top of the list. It currently abruptly ends at top or bottom, and you have to scroll back in the opposite direction, seriously why would they program a program guide to operate like this?

  4. Auto Grid Update - when exiting a Live TV channel back to the grid view the grid should auto update to the current time instead of displaying the stale data from when the Live TV channel was selected.

  5. Channel Change Speed - anyone whoā€™s used the PLEX Premium Live TV app knows how slow it is to respond to lock on and display Live TV content. This is purely a PLEX Live TV problem, Android Live Channels (using the same Haupauge tuner) will up/down to a new channel in just a second or two, PLEX is an order of magnitude slower.

OK, sorry for the rant, but you have to admit that the PLEX Premium Live TV channels app comes across very amateurish, it needs a lot of spit and polish and it needs to work with Chromecast.

How has this still not formally been addressed? I pay monthly for Emby solely based on its ability to cast live TV from my phone.

Really disappointed that this hasnā€™t even warranted a response. Itā€™s a pretty big feature gap.

I ended up getting rid of my Chromecasts and getting 2 Nvidia Shields and a Xioami Mii Box S. Both have Chromecasts built in so you can still cast (not Live TV though) if you want to but both also have the Plex app built into Android TV where you can watch live TV. This works as a solution and the Mii Box S is quite competitively priced.

Streaming Live TV to Chromecast appears to now be working. Iā€™m using iOS app v6.5 and just updated to Plex server 1.18.2, although it also worked on a previous server version that I didnā€™t note before updating.

So my plexpass is due for renewal and I am trying to decide what to do. Plex works reasonably well most of the time (though when it doesnā€™t the error messages are not universally helpful particularly on the remote devices.)

Right now I am hooking a PC up to my AV receiver and running through that, but it is WAY to much work and too much of a kluge I have some Rokus set up which seem to mostly work, but I also have some chrome casts that I would like to use.

In short, not being able to cast live TV is problematic. Anyone have real insight on whether this is really going to be fixed soon or if I should bite the bullet and get Embry working?

Tested it last night with latest iOS and Linux builds. Works fine. Can cast to the Plex Client or Chromecast in my Android Sony TV.
