Chromecast w/GTV EAC3 Playing Failure

Since November on certain older TV’s with my Chromecast with GoogleTV I cannot play remote streaming files that have EAC3 encoding, just spins trying to play for 10 seconds and errors out. The remote server does have audio transcoding on, but not video. But everything worked fine from this server for over a year.

I can play similar files fine from my local server so it’s not the device being unable to do it. Something changed in a Plex update that now causes it to fail where it didn’t use to. Files with other audio formats work fine.

When audio has to be transcoded from a HEVC file, it will usually transcode the video to x264. Try enabling video transcoding.

Thank you for the suggestion. I don’t have the option available to me to transcode the video on the server.

What is of note is that the problem only happens on the Chromecast/GTV, not on Amazon Fire or PC Plex apps
