Chromecast with Google TV and MOV or ASS subtitles

I am getting SOO frustrated with having to ensure ONLY SRT subtitles are tied to my media. I need subtitles due to a hearing impairment and it sure would be nice if I could get ASS or MOV subtitles to work reliably, without having to convert them or find SRT subs. I know it is a Chromecast app issue, as I can flip to the LG WebOS app on the TV and the subs work fine. The subs also work fine in every other player I try, from VLC to Windows Media Player. They will work great for a week on identical material and then one day they will stop working partway through a show and that is it - I am pulling my hair out and rebooting everything to see if I can get them working again. Never a problem with SRT subs.
PLEASE fix this.

Same for me on LG WebOs.
If the media is 4K HDR and subtitles .ASS, buffering takes place every 30 seconds making the video unwatchable.

If the subtitles are .SRT on the same video everything works, but PlexPlayer is unable to return the position and color formatting.

(example: in .SRT subtitle {\an8} is displayed and not executed)

Well, I assume a new update has happened as now even SRT subtitles won’t play. I can now get no subtitles at all with the app on my Chromecast with Google TV. Great work! I have not changed any settings in the last few months but it just keeps degrading. I guess I just dump it and run off my TV. :roll_eyes:
