Inside the artist tab, it list all the albums starting with newest to oldest. It would be awesome if I had the option to flip that and sort the albums in chronological order. Sometimes I like to start at the first album and listen to how the artist changes through the years. Currently the only way to do this is by creating a playlist, which can be tedious.
You can change that on the server. Edit at the artist level, advanced setting.
This is also tedious. There needs to be a sort by option inside the plexamp player.
The other thing you can do is edit this setting at the Library level, not Artist level. Advanced setting ‘Album sorting’ → ‘Oldest first’. However with either setting (Newest first or Oldest first), I use two tags in tracks for year/date data. ‘Year’ containing ‘YYYY’ and ‘OriginalDate’ containing ‘YYYY-MM-DD’. This ensures accurate chronological sorting for multiple artist releases in the same year. I don’t concern myself with reissue release dates, I always set ‘OriginalDate’ to the actual original release date. Agreed that having this sorting option in Plexamp would be nice, but deciding on one via the Library global setting seems to be enough for me personally.
