Circumvent TVDB Search

This happens too often:
I name the directory ‘right’, but the match is wrong/non-existent
I manually try to fix the match, the search returns no results.

I open TVDB in a browser, I can find the show easily.
The show even has an ID, a six digit number.

But then I am stuck trying to coerce the ‘Fix Match Search Window’ into compliance.
I rather there was a field in which to put the six digit show ID.
No more searching, just let me put in a pointer.

Not sure how deeply you already digged into this.
Would you mind sharing an example of how you named those files and how you organized the folders?
Also… what version of Plex Media Server are you using?

Personally I haven’t had issues with tv-show names in ages.

You can stick the TVDB ID in the Title field

Some of the 3rd Party Scanners do this, with Absolute Series Scanner you can create a text file TVdb.id with JUST that series number & it’ll match it to that, regardless of how it’s named

Thank you BigWheel, I did not know the search window accepted IDs. That 100% solves the issue.

One example of a show that refuses to compute is ‘Restoration’, the obscure Youtube series, not the BBC2 program.

To be fair… that’s going to be a tricky match as TheTVDb.com seems not to distinguish the two shows. For other shows they have alternative names or include the year if there’s multiple shows with the same year (e.g. Doctor Who = classic show; Doctor Who (2005) = modern show).

Did Plex mix those 2 versions up or did it mis-match a totally different show?
