Claim server RPI4 still impossible

Hey there !

Got RPI4 with OMV and plexmediaserver installed on it.

Had to standby my hardware for a while. I restarted it today. I still have access to my plexmediaserver but plex ask me to claim my server (again). Strange.

I read many things on the forum, the web, etc. Can’t find any solution.

I tried : clear browser cache, sign in sign out, reinstall plex, claim from many different clients (mac, smartphone, pc …), edit preferences.xml, set google as DNS …

I can click the claim button, it’s loading for a while then the button is clickable again but nothing happens. Tried to claim it from setup page and from plex “homepage”.

By the way, I can’t update my server until it’s not claimed. My librairies are still accessible.

Help would be much appreciated.

Thank you !

Schlberr

I assume that means the server is no longer claimed?

To confirm, browse to http://<IP_OF_RPI>:32400/identity

Does it say claimed="0" ?

If 0 then tell us, if your RPI and your workstation are on the same IP net, and if that is using private address space?

Hello !

Thanks for your help.

Yep, the server is no longer claimed (claimed = 0) and my RPI is on the same IP net as my computer. RPI has a static IP, all other devices DHCP.

And private address space ?

And if so, did you try with another browser, or in incognito mode?

Yes private address space.

I tried with many browsers and many different devices.

Another information if it could help : the library is still accessible, but there’s no picture for my medias (grey/black square)

Try this:

Thank you, just tried many times directly on the server with localhost adress 127.0.0.1

Get this error :

Tried on workstation too with RPI address, same error

You must use plex credentials, not Google when running the script

My google account is linked to plex.

My username : schlberr
On the forum : schlberr_gmail_com (set automatically I think)

I tried with “schlberr” to run the script. Should I try with “schlberr_gmail_com” ?

If I try to connect with my email or my username WITHOUT choosing “Continue with google”, it says “Username or password incorrect”. If I choose “Continue with google” it works

Hello again,

Any other suggestion ?

Ty

So you might have entered wrong password?

Go here to see

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account

Tried to change it and I unlinked my google account with my plex account in my account settings.

Unlogged and logged two times. Now I can login with my username and my password without clicking the “Connect with google” button, but I still can’t claim my server …

Thanks for your answer

Now try this one, and note from another branch

Thanks.

What do you mean by “note from another branch” ? Sorry not a GitHub expert

Tried directly on my PI with localhost IP address => same error as on my post number 7.

Tried from my Macbook with PI Ipv4 address, got this error :

Just tried to update plex to latest version and re-do your suggestions, still not working :frowning:

Do you have a Tidal account linked?
Asking bc of this: Can't sign into web app :Internal Server Error. Something went wrong on our end: - #67 by marshalleq

Hi charliemurphy,

Nope, not even heard about Tidal before you mentionned it

Ty !

That you should redownload, since another version of my script

And now we actually can authenticate, but are faced with an http 500 error

See: Errors and Troubleshooting · ukdtom/ClaimIt Wiki · GitHub and check your prefs xml file to make sure you did remove the 4 entries completely, as well as didn’t alter rights and ownership

Ty !

Didn’t work at all :frowning:

I tried to remove the Preferences.xml file (bad idea ?), reboot, visit plexserver from my computer and re-do the “first installation process” when accessing the server as it was the first time. The “automatic claiming” didn’t work. I tried manually too …

Then I checked if the Preferences.xml file was back, and it was. Can I consider that it is now set up with “default values” ?

If I check the rights, it looks like this :

-rw-rw-r-- 1 plex plex 434 Sep 20 21:01 Preferences.xml

Would you like an upload from my Preferences.xml file ? Not sure if it is safe to expose it here

I tried this too : https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/wwje5x/i_cant_claim_server_after_password_update/

Error 500 again :frowning:

Hopefully, you have a backup of it, so you can restore?

And do NOT upload your prefs xml file here, since it contains your token!

And since still having a problem, please upload a zip with the logs directory instead
