Claiming a server that is already claimed

I have two Snology running the Plex app on each server. They each are tied to a unique login on Plex.

Can I unclaimed one of the server and move the account so both are tied to one Plex login?

If yes, can sopmeone point me to an article with the steps.

Thanks.

Which DSM version are you using ?

If DSM 7.

  1. Uninstall + Sign out option (keeps the metadata)
  2. Reinstall + Plex Claim Token option

Thanks for the quick response, sorry for the lack of details.

According to the control panel, for server one:
I am on DSM 6.2.3
I can update to DSM 6.2.4
I can also update to DSM 7.0.1

Server two:
I am on DSM 7.0.1
I can update to a newer version - “Update 3”

Questions:
Do both servers have two be on DSM 7 in order to bring the two under one Plex account?

If not - then I just need to uninstall and reinstall Plex on my second server and claim the token with the server one account to link everything together?

Finally, I am doing this so I can swithch on the Roku on my TV between the servers. Am I configuring this correctly or is there a better setup?

On DSM 6

un- & re- claiming to a different account requires manual editing of the Preference file.
It’s not difficult. I can give you the instructions if you wish.

On DSM 7

Switching this machine’s account is as described above.

DSM 6 and DSM 7 are supported for Plex use.

Thanks for the reply.

Since the Plex on my DSM 7 is basically an empty shell, uninstalling the Plex and reinstalling it again seems to be the simplest approach.

For some reason, I recall I was not able to grab the token from the DSM 7 Plex with the DSM 6 server. I might have missed a step there. Hopefully, I will be successful this time around.

Forgot to ask if you can supply instructions for editing the DSM 6 preference file.

I have it already detailed in the Syno FAQ

Thanks - will give it a shot. Appreciate all the help.
