Clarification - Am I doing something wrong : Stacked Files Not Playing...

Like many other people here I'm trying to figure out the functionality of Plex.

There's one particular problem which baffles me and I'm hoping I could get some help.

I have a movie Halo Legends, which has 8 different parts.  I've named the directory "Halo Legends 2010" and also named each file Halo Legeneds (2010) Episode 01, Halo Legends (2010) Episode 02... etc.

I've create a movies library and placed the Folder/Files accordingly and then updated the.  It shows up in the Xbox One Plex App as one movie, the combined video length (2 hours) is listed and it plays just fine, but it will only play the first file.  It will not continue to play the remainder of the files, it will go back to the movie info screen when it stops playing.  If I play the file again it will ask if I want to continue from where I left off, which then brings me to a black screen and then nothing happens.

As an alternative - I've moved the Halo Legends movie to the TV Shows Library and now it sort of does what I want it to do.

Halo Legends shows up ---> Season 1 Heading -----> Each File is listed individually and they play without a hitch

Is there any way I can recreate this but in the Movies Library?

Given Halo Legends is actually 7 short animated features forming a collection (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1480660),

Simply create a stacked set of parts in your movie library.

movies/

  Halo Legends (2010)/

    Halo Legends (2010)-pt1.extension

    Halo Legends (2010)-pt2.extension

There are other naming options as shown here:  https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200264966-Naming-Stacked-or-Multi-Part-Movies

I did rename the files as you mentioned and placed them in my Movies library.  The same issue arises - I can play the first short animated film, but at the end it just stops and brings me back to the film description screen.

I can see the progress bar indicator showing that there's still plenty more left to watch, but I can't watch it.  When I press play to continue the movie it asks if it can resume from the end of the last file - I say yes, and it just brings me back to the movie description menu again.

I believe I'm doing everything correctly, not sure why it isn't functioning the way it's supposed to.

After performing the stacking, because of the compound nature of what you're doing,  did you move the movie out of your movie directory, refresh  library - empty trash - clean bundles ,  then move the now-stacked movie back into the library and perform a final refresh?

I suggest this because renaming parts in-place doesn't always change date/time stamps enough.   The modified time needs to be changed on the files themselves.  Renaming them changes only the directory.  The scanner would see the files as 'unchanged' and not process deeper when it should reanalyze the entire directory.

I had only updated the library.

What I did was remove the Halo Legends Folder and moved it to another location.  Did an update library, empty trash and then a clean bundle.  I then moved the Halo Legends Folder back and did another update library.  The same issue happens, it will play the first part fine but nothing more - the movie ends and goes back to the Halo Legends Info screen, and it will show the progress indicator that some of the 2h plus movie had been watched.

Mind you if I play the Halo Legends in my Plex browser it does play all the files just fine.  I assume it's an issue with Plex for the Xbox One,

Thanks for the assistance, i'll try and tackle this tomorrow with a clearer head!

Apologies - the Xbox One app doesn't (yet) support stacked/multipart video. It's on the TODO list though!

Good to know!

Can't wait for the updates then!

any update on when the xbox one app will support stacked files yet?

Try this

Put Stacked files is a TV shows type of library

Eg: i have 2 anime library one for movies and one for eps

the movie type library only support one file and tv support stacked.....
