Cleaning up deleted or replaced episodes

Server Version#:45;5
Player Version#:web

Hi all,

Over the last year, a feature was added in that if an episode or show was missing or change on the server (for example, I recoded something from mkv to m4v under handbrake), rather than simply seeing the new episode, the server shows that it has problems playing, and there is a trash bin over the episode which one needed to clean up …
but now, the trash bin over the episode is gone, and the trash bin is over series is there.
Having just recoded 2 seasons of 20+ episodes, then manually hunting through the info button for many more than that number when I missed some to see if this was the particular episode that I missed, could we do one of the following things to make Plex more user friendly to people who need to manage capacity:

  • have an option to delete stuff that is not there (one click to fix the fault forever)
  • have an option to clean up files that are not currently findable (one click to fix the fault for current conditions)
  • at least show which particular episode is missing (only a couple of clicks per episode)
I get you are probably trying to fix an issue with storage devices being unavailable at start up, but you keep making it harder and harder for people who can actually manage their servers. Perhaps the “I take responsibility for my network and file systems - please treat me like an adult” button ?

I suppose this recent thread is answering this topic :

  • option to filter by trash
  • option to empty the trash from the library context menu

Unfortunately, I have the reverse problem - things in the DB where there are no files.

Empty the library trash.
