Clear QAM and Live TV

Good Morning.
I am having an issue with live tv. I have a Wintv10 dual hd tuner installed on my plex server. the Tuner is connected to the cable line of my provider and i am able to watch all channels that are available and unencrypted. I then went to set up live tv and dvr in plex and ran a cable tv scan. the scan found 330 some channels and then once the scan was done only showed 54 channels of which 53 say protected. And the one that was able to be tuned ran fine and works great. my question is what happened to all the other channels i know are available. the channels i know are available are on numbers like 19.1, 3, 4. 74.1, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I cant seem to find any updated links to this problem all links are 2019 and older.

thanks
Paul

Its to bad you can not manually search for a certain channel to see if it is even being seen by plex. that would help alot in knowing what to look for as an issue.
I just noticed that if i start over on for wintv and plex and as the win10 is finding channels start a scan on plex i get different results going from 53 channels protected and one good channel to 13 good channels and none protected. Then once everything is said and done scanning plex again and going right back to 53 and 1.

So I have been playing around with trying to get this to work. Thought I should pry go into depth with the setup.
I have a Cable box from my provider has just basic cable on it. I have a Splitter in place so the the line coming from the provider is connecter to both my Dual HD tuner and the Cable Box.
The Dual HD is connected to my pc running plex.
I installed the Dual HD Driver and to begin with install the software as well. I did a Scan and It finds and plays all channels great. Qam Numbers for those channels are:
19.3-11
20.5
74.2-10
75.2-10
76.1-10
79.1-8
The Scan also gives me a bunch of encrypted channels that I obviously will not be able to get.

Then i go to Plex and go to setup my live tv and dvr.
I finds the Dual HD and then says awaiting for scan. and 12:00 flashes.
I select Cable and USA
I do the channel scan and it find like 330 channels once the entire scan is done it drops those found to 54 channels and all of those but one say protected on the next screen.

I have tried several different ways of uninstalling everything completely and just installing the driver for the Dual HD. But still the same results.

In a couple of trials of starting both channel searches at the same time I was able to get the scan to only find 44 channels and they are the 19.1-10 and one 118.1. Sadly those are none of the Channels I would like on the system.

Just thought this might Help with any informational help I can get.

thanks

Here are some screen shots of the earlier posts.
Initial Scan

Results after Scan

Scanning Done at the same time

Found on Wintv 10 app 93 channels vs 13 channels on plex. But at least this time it finds more usable channels. as you can see with the 19.xx on both scans. Why plex will not find these on the one at a time scan but will when i am scanning with both at the same time is confusing.

this is the channel guide i should be getting. the 19.1-xxx are all SD definition if that makes a difference.

Hi @grumpypj one thing I noticed in your last screen shot is that your 19.x channels are not enabled because Plex couldn’t determine which clear QAM channel numbers (e.g. 19.1) matched which VCN (Virtual Channel Number, e.g. 404) since traditional cable channel lineups from providers like Gracenote only track VCN. If you tick the boxes for those channels and then select the matching channel in the drop down you should be golden.

Yeah tried that. And those come up. But my issue still stands as those are not all the clear Qam channels. The 19.x are like public broadcasting. On the wintv10 software i am getting a bunch more clear Qam channels like discovery and history tnt tbs. As well as the 19.x channels. That is what is confusing me. Why would i get them in the win software but not plex.
Thanks for the response i really appreciate it.

The more i look at your reply and trying to figure this out. can you explain how to go about this. I checked the boxes and changed the channel to what for example 19.5 points to. and yes that works. I tried then to change 19.5 to say discovery and no dice. Is there something i can change in the win10 app that would then help plex find the correct channels. sorry I have been racking my brain and the only channels i can get to come up are public access channels from the provider which are shown in their programming as the 19.xx. but every time the plex software will find cspan2 with no issues. so it just doesnt make since why it wouldnt find the other channels.

thanks for all the help.

Problem fixed found that the channel identifier was being duplicated. had to go into the database and reorder them. once i did that we are rocking and rolling. figured i would add the link to the post on the issue.

thanks for the help. hope this may help others.

thanks
