Clearing Collection Tags

I hope I’m in the right place… I’ll try to sum this up quick. Somewhere in the combination of Media Center Master (for creating XBMC nfo files) and XBMCnfoMoviesImporter (to bring that nfo data to Plex) and the latest update to Plex collections, all of the tags in my movies have become collections. As a quick example… An American Werewolf in London now appears in the following collections: “Loss of lover” “Intensive care” “Dying and death” “Village and town” “Transformation” “Black humor” etc. At first I was totally confused, then saw the December blog post about collections.

I’ve now configured MCM to not add Tags. I’ve used Notepad++ to search and remove all TAG lines from my nfo files. Now I’m wondering if there’s a quick way to remove all Collection tags from Plex besides editing each movie and clicking the little Xs.

thanks!!

Use the ‘hosted’ web app (important) https://app.plex.tv/desktop
enable media deletion on your server (only temporarily)
switch the movie library to ‘Collections’ view
Shift+click on the first collection poster
scroll down a bit
Shift+click on another poster
click on the ellipsis ( . . . ) up-right
‘Delete’
repeat if necessary

^^ What Otto said  (Edited to remove the instructions that I wrote at the same time as Otto)

I’ll keep at it until they’re gone, but there are some funny ones based on what I’m assuming are IMDB tags… “Alien Infection,” “Autonomous Shadow” (Bram Stoker’s Dracula), “Canuxploitation” (Canadian B movies like Cube, The Gate and Class of 1984). My favorite single movie collection: “Walking on piano keys”

Also, I’m surprised by the number of movies in the “Vomiting Blood” collection… yikes!

I love you… Collections have been driving me BATSH** since their introduction. I turned off the “use collection” blah blah as soon as I noticed it but had thousands of movies already tagged. Finally found your answer to this today and they are all finally bloody gone! cheers
