So, I am not sure if this happens with anyone else, but if my video has CC with it, either through Plex or already present in the video file, the Plex App will automatically show the CC… Yet, when I swipe down and then go to Subtitles, it ALWAYS ALWAYS has “Off” selected… And to turn them off? I have to RESELECT “Off.”
The dropdown menu goes away and the CC is off… For this one video play.
Did you check your global app settings on your Plex server? Sounds like you have subtitles set to always enabled.
Yup, as Ghost3k says - one thing people often forget completely about (I know I did until I saw it in another thread a few days ago). There’s a setting in plex.tv. If you go to my account -> settings -> global app settings, you’ll find an option “auto-select subtitle mode”.
Mine was set to “always enabled”, which overrode my Plex for ATV app and Plex Media Server settings which were both set to “Off” for subtitles. I’ve now changed that setting to “Shown with foreign audio”, and it’s all good again.
