[CLOSED] Unable to Connect html Message on Plex Page

Server Version#: V1.13.5.291
Player Version#:

QNAP OS firmware: 4.2.6

I’ve got a QNAP TS-459 Pro II. It has Plex installed as an app in the App Centre. V1.13.5.291

It has been quite a while since I tried to access it via the web interface (192.168.1.30:32400/web), and when I went to load it today, it just responds with a Unable to Connect message in the browser.

So, not http response at all.

I have tried to reboot the NAS, but that does not help.

Not sure what info I need to provide to help trouble shoot this, so please let me know and I’ll do it.

Thanks

Have you put your correct network IP address in the url, this is missing a set of numbers EG
192.168.1.30 what is you’re networks address range ?

Sorry, typo in my question.
Missed a 1 (I hate typing IP addresses).

The address is:
192.168.1.30:32400/web

I’ll edit the question accordingly.

Cheers.

Hi.

Just checking in to see if someone is willing to assist me.

have you tried https:// ? What version number is your server? no response at all sounds like it the server is not even running

does your NAS have more than one network card. does it have more than one IP. are you positive you are hitting the right one? Can you connect at https://app.plex.tv/desktop ? if you can go to to remote access settings and double check the local/private IP it has listed

I have tried https with the same result.

The server details are:

Server Version#: V1.13.5.291
Player Version#:

QNAP OS firmware: 4.2.6

I’ve got a QNAP TS-459 Pro II. It has Plex installed as an app in the App Centre. V1.13.5.291

My NAS has 2 Ethernet ports. Only 1 is plugged in. The IP is correct and I used it to access the Shares on the NAS.

When I go to app.plex.tv/desktop, a message is displayed in the left margin at the top:
A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, and it will appear here.

This is odd as I installed it in the app centre of my NAS.
As such. I was not able to access remote access settings.

Not sure if you use any other Plex apps but can you still access your server with another Plex app like on your phone or TV?

Can you grab the Plex Media Server.log. will need to get it manually off NAS filesystem. Locations here https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/

No, not able to access it via my TV.

OK. Will look to grab that log file. Will come back once I’ve got it.

Whoa, that took me a while to figure out. Not mega strong on the Linux CLI.

The log files are in this zip.

A quick glance shows the latest entry was back in Feb (which is weird). I also attached a screenshot showing that Plex is, in fact, installed on my Qnap NAS.

Hope that helps.
Thanks

Yeah those logs are old. You have definitely used your server since then? It honestly sounds like it is just not running. In the app center, does it say it is started and has the open button below the server icon?

The qnap app center should have a new version of server 1.15.4 at least. 1.13.5 is pretty old. Your logs from February actually say it is 1.9.6 which is extremely old. You can install manually from download from our site https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/

I don’t know if it is running.
But it has the icon with the “Open” button underneath it in the App Centre.

The versions are probably old because they stopped doing firmware updates for this model.

I’ll see if I can determine if the service is running via ssh. Google may help with that

We can close this post. I gave up on the old tech and installed Plex on a Windows Server 2019 box which I recently built.

Thanks for trying to help. The QNAP can just do its main thing and serve files.
