Unable to Connect to my Plex Server

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

I’m unable to connect to my Plex Server on Qnap NAS TS453B.
Server is running OK On QNAP NAS but unable to connect through the Plex web app.
It says Server could not be found.

Would appreciate any suggestion.

Hey sorry to hear that. Usually it’s not too bad to get sorted.
Some Plex articles are excellent:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288666-opening-plex-web-app/
https://support.plex.tv/articles/204604227-why-can-t-the-plex-app-find-or-connect-to-my-plex-media-server/

The short and easy version is something like this.

  • Clear your Firefox or browser cookies/cache and restart it.
  • Use your browser to log in to plex.tv with Plex credentials. Leave the tab up.
  • In a new tab, connect to your QNAP and log in as admin.
  • On the QNAP desktop or Main Menu click Plex Media Server.
  • It pops open a new tab with the bundled web client as you may know.
  • Sign In within the bundled web client if you are not (upper right hand corner).

That gets you and your browser and your QNAP all logged in and on the same page. Any sort of javascript blocker or adblocker running needs to be whitelisted for those addresses and for plex.tv. That’s important.

The next type of web browser client player is the Web App. Because you’ve logged in to the bundled one and their website, it will be smooth. On the website, click Launch.

Happy Plexing!

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions. Although I’ve tried exactly as you suggested before but still didn’t work.
So what I did was to create/register another account and connect to my QNAP NAS. That works fine.
Which means issue has something to do with the account. I just don’t know why I can’t connects to my NAS with that account.

See attached Pic1.
KPOKU_HP-ENVY = Is my Plex Server on my Laptop
TS453B = Is my QNAP NAS Server which is showing as “Server unavailable”.

Pic2
Shows my authorised devices which shows both my Laptop and NAS have been authorised for the account.

Anyway, I’m able to use my other account to connect to the Plex Server on NAS but wondering if you could figure out why I can’t connect to that particular account om my NAS.

I tried removing the Laptop Plex server, hoping that was causing it but still wasn’t able to connect to the NAS.

Thanks for your help.

Kwame Poku.

Where it shows as unavailable in that tab:

  1. Delete it. (it will repopulate when the server itself again connects to Plex.tv)
  2. Restart Plex on QTS and make certain the processes are running (Resource manager)
  3. Open the local lan IP of the QNAP (http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web) In an incognito window

Advise the results please.
