Codec problem on iPhone

Hi, I got problem with sound on iPhone (13, 14 pro…)
Channel viewed is in stereo MP2 and transcoded in Opus codec on my iPhones.
Got no sound at all and I’m not able to change this codec.

On my iPad, no problem at all, with an the other codec (aac transcoded).

How can we force iPhones to use same transcription ?

Server Version#: 18.5 on Ubuntu
Player Version#: 25.21.0
Tuner Make/Model: hdhomerun duo via cable

Problem seems to be known since a long moment.

Why a fix hasn’t come yet ???

I have the same issue when not direct-playing.

Plex Server: Version 1.41.9.9961
Windows 11 Pro
iPhone 12 - iOS 18.5

When on cellular, live tv transcodes to opus & won’t play audio.

  • Video Transcode (MPEG2VIDEO 1080i H264 (HW) SD)

When on LAN/Local to Plex Server:

  • Product Plex for iOS
  • Player iPhone
  • Quality Original (20.5 Mbps)
  • Stream Transcode (Speed: 4.5)
  • Container Converting (MPEGTS MPEGTS)
  • Video Transcode (MPEG2VIDEO 1080i H264 (HW) 1080p)
  • Audio Direct Stream (English - AC3 5.1)
  • Subtitle None

I confirm this issue is resolved with Plex iOS v2025.22.0
