Collection items erroneously displayed when "hide" option is selected

Server Version#: v1.31.0.6654-02189b09f (linux server)
Player Version#: Web (Chrome)

The option: “Hide items which are in collections” works only when “By Title” is selected as the sort option.

To reproduce:
. add an item to a collection
. select “Hide items which are in collections” from the Advanced menu for the library:
Settings->MANAGE Libraries->Edit Library->Advanced->Collections->“Hide items which are in collections”
. from the LIBRARY page, sort “By Title”. Notice the collection item is properly missing.
. from the same page, sort by say, “Release Date”. Notice the item now erroneously shows up.
. all other sort methods I have tried also fail to hide the item.

Please let me know if you need any additional information…

Collections are only available when sorting “By Title”. You don’t see collections in any other view, so the “hide” option does not work either.

I see… Why is that? It seems to defeat the purpose.

Because a collection does not have the aspects of many other sorts. As an example, if you sort on audience rating, the collection does not have one, and all the movies in it could have wildly different ones. If a smart collection the movies themselves could be wildly different depending on the filter(s) it was based on. To expose the movies in the correct order of the sort need to expose them instead of the collection.
