Why do Collection items that have been played from start to finish show up in Continue Watching?
Steps to reproduce:
Go to the Collection.
Press Play.
Let at least one title play through to the end (ie: stop the player when the next item starts).
Go to Home.
Items show in Continue Watching.
Why is there a progress bar? Shouldn’t they be considered ‘played’ as soon as the player begins the next item in the Collection?
Were you watching from an Android client? There is a bug there. If you were using another client, then this is new and we’ll need more info.
Yes, I was. I’ve just checked using the web app and it didn’t happen there, so that confirms it being an Android bug. Any idea when there might be a fix for this?
It’s been around for a few months (year?). Doesn’t seem to happen as often as it used to, but still happens unfortunately.
Thanks for the poke about this @blackzwe in other topic. (I have not personally seen it in a long while) I poked the bug report again. Looks like our Android dev has not be able to reproduce themselves which is why it has been hard to fix nail down issue.
Hey @BigWheel thanks for the heads up. It’s become common for me to happen multiple times daily. What may we do to assist the dev team? I’ll provide logs for PMS and ATV shortly after the current playing few episodes I’m watching when it occurs. It can easily go unnoticed as CW always shows the latest not fully played episode yet the season is littered with older unplayed episodes which ergo do not sync under the new feature.
It could not hurt to get more logs from most recent versions of app.
I’m having the same exact issue on a Fire TV but from regular shows in my continue watching.
Do you have a link to any posts or information regarding this bug I could take a look at @MovieFan.Plex ?
I’m curious now because dbirch took a look at my logs a few days ago fearing a corrupted database but didn’t see anything unusual.
It’s too similar a problem for me to not to wonder.

@JaysPlex that looks like same issue. It is Android bug, not a server bug, as far as we can tell. (Fire TV is Android) We suspect it sending the server bad data somehow.
Hey @BigWheel here we go… This is the episode. Will DM logs shortly…

I’ve got the same issue on my end.
I created this new thread before I realized this affected a lot of users.
Feel free to merge into this one so we can all stay updated.
Hi @BigWheel, hopefully you are in receipt of the logs I sent over multiple failures I identified during one of my viewing sessions, does the dev team need anymore info? Please let us know how we may be of support, thanks again for your help. It happens quite frequently if you are using collections.
I did get them. Thank you.
I have an (other videos) library just for music videos. I put this on shuffle and just let it play, sometimes for hours. None of these videos are completing and they’re all showing up in the continue watching.
Continue watching is now obsolete. I need to call an Uber to drive to the end of this list where my actual tv shows are.
I went into the manage library settings and turned this off
I do not want to exclude this whole library from the home screen because I want these videos to show up in the recently added videos section
Unclicking those boxes makes no change to anything as far as I can see. All those uncompleted videos are still in the continue watching.
Is this another bug possibly related to the uncompleted videos or am I misunderstanding what that setting is for?
I know you know about the items being stuck in the continue watching @Bigwheel. I just realized what might be an important clue as to why this may be happening.
The items that won’t get marked as played and get stuck are all short shows. Music Videos and shows like Married With Children, Big Bang, Arrested Development. (20-23 minutes)
it doesn’t happen to longer shows like Westworld or Better Call Saul . Even shows like Barry that are 28-30 minutes seem to work fine.
If your devs are still having a hard time reproducing this it might be something to let them know
thanks for letting me know I will add that to report to check
Hey @BigWheel any updates on this issue? Do the developers need any other information to assist. This deficiency is wrecking havoc with our activity feed from discover and sync. After watching an entire season you notice that no episodes are synced because of this issue.
Any progress on this bug?
This seems to be getting worse
Before only short shows seem to be a problem (3-22 minutes) but now even longer shows are doing this (44 minutes +)
Also, it doesn’t have the yellow line all the way across the bottom now for a lot of the videos. It’s now a mix of shows with a full yellow line and some that show a line at the half way point
At least before I could tell what episodes to manually mark as played, but now I can’t tell the difference between completed shows and shows that I’ve actually only watched part of
Something maybe worth noting. That half way yellow line doesn’t stop there while you’re watching the show
It looks like it’s about to complete, going almost all the way to the end.
It only reverts back to the half way mark after you’ve finished watching it and exit out of the show
