A substantial portion of my continue watching row looks like this.
All videos are played to the end.
And from VLC
This started with one show and I actually went in and trimmed the credits off the end of the video because I thought it was specific to that show.
Videos are mostly 720p H.264 or H.265 but I can play these fine off my other server based on a Windows machine. All clients are Fire Cube 4k but the issue seems to be server based by process of elimination so far.
This happened with the previous server version and I updated but still no luck. I had an issue with that as well which is why I’m not on the current version. The update install hung and then i lost all my libraries. I had to uninstall and reinstall before everything would come back.
Continue watching for that server just doesn’t continue.
It doesn’t happen for every show so recreating the issue might take time.
Could you be using a external player with your plex client? Believe the setting for this is in the plex client under settings - advanced - player (at least its there on the mobile client).
Using an external player doesn’t update the watched status on plex so could be what your seeing.
Thanks Dokuro, I use a Fire Cube and I don’t think that option exists in the settings. This is random. Some show as watched and the next episode pops up no problem, while others don’t. It works ok for half a day then 4 videos in a row have the problem.
@dbirch I was afraid of it being a corrupted database as well, I was just hoping you would convince me otherwise
Put one from last night and one from today since the problem seems to be inconsistent
I know how to repair my database from a backup. The problem is, I’m not sure if the most distant backup predates the issues I’m having.
It may take me back before the issue was so severe but I assume that means it will put me right back to my current situation a few weeks from now
It says you can delete com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file but I’m not clear on this
“(i.e. You will lose your existing libraries and need to recreate them , but you won’t be affecting your content itself.)”
It doesn’t affect my content in what respect? This sounds like the nuclear option starting over from scratch but it’s a little confusing the way it’s worded
Yes deleting com.plexapp.plugins.library.db is the nuclear option. It leaves all of your media (TV episodes, movies) intact and deletes your view history, and all your plex libraries.
I am not seeing database corruption. does this happen with multiple players or just the one? do you have database optimization as a scheduled task? If not, how often do you run it?
