Collection thumbnail collages do not generate

I have a bunch of movie collections. Plex generates a collage thumbnail where up to four movie poster thumbnails are placed together in a conglomerate thumbnail for the collection. This is broken for 75% of my thumbnails. A few still work properly. The rest are just a dark gray box.

I removed all movies from both collections pictured, deleted both collections, and recreated both collections and the same thing occurs. I also refreshed all metadata. The movie thumbnails inside the collection are accurate. I would really like to not delete the entire database if possible. Anything I can try? I have an SQLite browser and can access the database if needed. I’ll also mention that the collections are like this on all devices, including the plex server itself in the browser. I did manually set a thumbnail for the collection and then set it back to default, no dice.

i would definitely enable the automatic collections but if it is not creating the collage thumbnail for manually created collections for you then there may be a bug or some other issue.

You might just need to optimize the database or there could be database corruption. ( possibly neither but it is quick to check those)

There could be some issue with the image transcoder that makes the collage of thumbs but would need server logs from after creating a collection where it does this so we can see what might be going on.

Tried optimization, no corruption. I use BackBlaze so I restored a copy of the DB from 10 days ago where the problem was not happening. I had added new movies and other items since then so I’ve rescanned and added. The problem did not come back. Yet.
