Collections' metadata and poster language is flipping automatically to a different language

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639

Second time I’m raising this issue…
This issue is not version specific because it has been happening in different versions…

I have a movie library in English and created another library, for the same files, in Spanish. Everything looked fine until I was going through a couple of collections in the English library and noticed the metadata and the poster had flipped to Spanish… The only way I was able to fix this was to delete the collection, move one of the movies to a different folder, move it back to the original folder and the collection was created again with the metadata and poster in the correct language (English).

But I noticed that if I went into another Collection that was in English, if I also went into one of the movies in the Collection, this would trigger an update and suddenly the metadata and poster of this Collection would also flip to Spanish…
It’s doing this even after deleting the libraries in Spanish…

Plex, are you ever going to fix this issue?

Are we getting any support at all from Plex here or what is going on?

The problem is that you have the same collections in both libraries. They are not completely separated by library. So the language of the poster switches to whatever library has updated that collection last.

What is my alternative? If we are able to create different libraries in different languages for the same files, how should we handle this to avoid this issue?

There is unfortunately no clean solution, except creating a wholly separate server instance. (for which you either need a separate server machine or a “virtualised” machine)

If you have only very few collections, you could create the Spanish ones “by hand” and give them a unique name, so they won’t merge with the English ones.

By unique name, you mean a totally different name from what they actually are? I mean, in the actual sense of the word, they are already unique because the name of some collections is totally different in English and Spanish.

Something I just remembered and I haven’t tried, do you think if I after creating the library/collections in English, if I lock them to prevent any changes, and then I create the library/collections in Spanish and I also lock them, could prevent this?
Thanks

You can try that, but then the collections will be in the wrong language for one half of your user base.
