Collections not working in Windows 10 version of player

Server Version#: 1.22.3.4523
Player Version#: 1.31.1.2262-74fdc6b7

I recently updated all the metadata on my movie library.

Immediatly after that update my movie collections would not display under the collections tab. Specifically, what was displayed under the collections tab looked EXACTLY the same as what was displayed under the Library tab.

My other Collections work fine: TV, Stand-Up Comedy, etc.

When I used the browser version of media player the movie collections displayed fine. My Roku also displays the collection fine. And my Samsung smart TV also displays the collections fine.

I then reinstalled media player for windows 10 and it is still not working.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The library tab displays movies and collections depending on settings, the collection tab only displays collections so not sure what you mean

Let me send you a couple of screen shots.

Here are two screenshots fom the Plex Player app for Windows 10

These two screenshots show the display for the Library tab, and the display for the Collections tab. They are identical.

Here is another screenshot from the browser version of Plex Player. This is a screenshot of my Collections tab. This is how it should look

OK so the collection tab in the Win 10 app is still showing the movies as well. the page did not update when switching tab. Is that correct?

That is correct as it’s doing it with mine as well. The only way I can view collections is through the web browser version.

is it possible to get the app logs from one of you. Windows/Mac app logs | Plex Support

Is switching to Recommended or Playlist tab working?

Switching to Recommended and Playlist is working.

I think the page DOES update. For example, if I go from Playlist to Collections it shows the same display as Library. If it were NOT updating it would show the same content as Playlist.

I’ll try to get the logs for you.

Here are the log files.

Plex.1.log (75.5 KB)
Plex.2.log (3.2 MB)
Plex.3.log (74.6 KB)
Plex.4.log (76.1 KB)
Plex.5.log (2.3 MB)
Plex.log (77.7 KB)

I exited the app. Restarted it. Went to Movies. Switched back and forth between the Recommended, Library, Collections, and Playlist tabs. Leaving the app running, I then uploaded the log files.

@Comarre still looking. I was curious when you uninstalled did you also delete the Plex folder in appdata %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex (not the server folder there)

I did not. Should I try that? What will I lose?

The settings in the app and some caches. ( you can always back it up by just placing it someplace else then when it relaunches it will create a new one.) if ti does not help and the issue remains just close app then put the old one back and launch again.

So do I delete everything in this folder except the Plex Media Server folder?

sorry I meant don’t delete the Plex Media Server folder that is in App data. (I was assuming your main server was installed on that same computer.)

for now just stop close the app so it is not running, move that entire Plex folder some place else like the desktop then relaunch the app.

restoring defaults should fix

Plex

It says to use with caution. What are the risks for resetting the defaults?

You suggested another possible solution: moving the Plex folder.

Which of these options would you recommend?

it will Restore Defaults, the settings of the app to default, like Play Theme music, Quality settings will reset. It will ask you which server and libraries you want to pin and you will need to reorder them if you did something specific. If you have setting sync turned on then it will reset the settings of the Web app as well to match. To be clear I am talking only about the settings of the app, those 4 groups of settings you see in screenshot (General, Quality, Debug, Player), not your server settings. (Your downloads if you have any should remain)

If you remove the Plex folder then it will start up as if you installed it for the first time. This will remove downloads as they are stored in that folder.

I personally suggest just hitting restore defaults.

I restored defaults and it solved my problem.

The only rework so far is that I had to reset my custom selections for what items get pinned to the main menu.

Thanks for all the help.
