Im trying to setup collections, I did a test with the Alien collection, I did the tag in the collection field, it saved, then I tagged the other movies…that worked.
I selected the Collapse method to hide the individual movies and only show the collection…no joy
I looked at the movies …they show they are listed in the collection.
I went to Edit the collection…it pulls the 4 movies in the collection…but cant edit the Main Picture…it just the 4 movies in the collection, cant edit the collection
I tried to add the lord of the rings …the collection will not save…
something Im doing wrong…am I missing a step?
thanks
I went through that before posting…the issue persists
Do these movies have only one collection tag,
or are they members of several collections?
If they are in several collections, and those collections have conflicting ‘visibility’ settings, the issue you describe can arise.

is this issue considered a bug or behavior-by-design?
Only one collection in my library. And as I mentioned I tried to make another collection with Lord of the rings, it wont save

Let’s call it a ‘clash’.
Currently, the preference which says “show it” wins.

Something is not right.
Make sure you don’t have web browser extensions which interfere here.
Try a different web browser, too.
Otherwise there is only the possibility of a database defect.
Here’s how to confirm it:
- activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
- quit Plex Server
- wait 1 minute
- start Plex Server
- wait 5 minutes
- fetch log files and attach them here
Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

It looks like Plex doesn’t like firefox…seems to be working now

Web browser extension then. Disable Adblocker or script blocker or similar extensions for the domains plex.tv and 127.0.0.1 and [IP of your local server]
Thanks.
but one more issue still remains, I am trying to create a new collection The Lord of the Rings. I make the title, save changes…never holds

I use the latest FireFox and I use AdBlock plus and Plex works perfectly. Previously I used Chrome also with AdBlock plus and had no problems with that either.
I do NOT access Plex from the same computer that Plex runs on, maybe that is part of the difference

Once you have typed in the title (and before you press Enter!), there is a text directly underneath the input field that reads
Add The Lord of the Rings. Try clicking on it with the mouse.

I was trying to add a collection called “Werewolf” and I already had a collection called “American Werewolf” and when I typed “Werewolf” if I pressed enter it selected “American Werewolf” I had to, as @OttoKerner said, click on the “Add Werewolf” line to get it to add “Werewolf” correctly.
