I have a synology and latest plex as of 4-8-22. I added some tv shows to collections and chose to hide the collection.
I then tested it by switching to another user and that same collection is visible by the other user.
Is it possible at all to hide a collection? how can I hide said collections and allow it to be visible to just a single user?
The collection visibility options only refer to if/how collections are displayed inside your library. Setting it to Hide will not display that collection inline with your other library items. Collections will always show on the Collections tab!
If you don’t want a particular user not to see the collection, you could look into restricting the shared library using some sharing labels. Keep in mind that’ll only apply to the collection, not to its content (unless you restrict access to the individual items inside a collection too).
Thank you, this gives me some options then. Any particular set of instructions or tutorials you would recommend on using the labels in such manner?
No particular one.
I’ve simply assigned a sharing label and used an advanced filter to filter for those labels (or combinations with other criteria). I then saved the filter as a smart collection.
