Hello,

I run a Plex Server on Windows. I have made a lot of Collections, in the Movies and TV Shows.

Today I was doing adding some items to a Collection and I noticed that the items I added to the Collection did not remove themselves after the were put into the Collection I created.

Under the Wrench icon, Libraries, Collections, both libraries are defaulted to " Hide items which are in collections".

In the Collection settings I also checked to make sure, and the Collection Mode was “Library default”. I changed it to " Hide items in this collection" just to make sure, and it still would not hide the items.

I am also read that Collection view could only be viewed when the library was sorted by title. Which my Library is sorted by title. I even changed the sorting to see if that would help, and it did not.

I tried restarting my server. Nothing I have done has helped.

Anyone have any suggestions?

So, I just realized that all the shows that are not hiding themselves are in multiple playlists in TV Shows.

Maybe that would help narrow it down. Maybe its a glitch on the TV Show side. On the Movie side I have certain movies in multiple Collections and those remain hidden.

Are all of the collections configured to hide their items?
Plex prioritizes the option to display items it it’s present in a single collection.

Yes. I made sure that both in the library settings, and the settings for the Collections is set to Library Default.

Huh, I just discovered that if the Library itself is set to “Hide collections but show their items”, you cannot override that on a per collection basis to “Show this collection and its items” or “Hide items in this collection”. Plex ignores the tV show override and hides all TV show collections regardless of what you set it to.
Dunno if it’s related. Any other library-wide setting for collections allows you to override the library on a collection-by-collection basis AS LONG AS the Library is not set to “Hide collections but show their items”.

I will experiment further, since the few TV Shows I have in collections are only in a single collection. There may be an issue if you have one show in multiple collections at once, Plex won’t know which collection setting to use, and may default badly.

Do you do this?

Just tried that and that didn’t work either.

You must be right. Having a TV Show in multiple Collections must make it default badly…

Maybe they can put out a fix for it in a later update.

Ive noticed this as well. If a item is in more than one collection, it gets confused and will show the items and the collection. I haven’t been able to figure out how to get it to be consistent.

Just tried a few things. If a show is in multiple collections, they must all be set to “Hide items in this collection” in order for collection items to be hidden. If a show is added to even one collection that is set to show the collection items, then the show will always be shown.

This is normal Plex behavior. So I must be confused.
What exactly is “Collection A” set to, what is “Colelction B” set to, and what is the library set to?
What is the expected behavior?
What do you see?
