is there a plugin like on emby where movies are automatically put in collections ? or a way to set it up ?
Thanks i should of mentioned i know how to setup collections on plex i was just wondering if there was a way it was automatically done without me doing anything like on emby but i am guessing on plex the only option is “Use collection info from The Movie Database” i have now enabled this so it should put my movies into collections ?
Yes, as long as your movies are listed as in a collection on TMDB.
Or if you use the mp4 file format, you can use the embedded meta tag ‘Album’.

You just tick the checkbox.
(to be on the safe side, tick the checkbox in the properties of both the Plex Movie and the TheMovieDatabase agents.)

Thanks it has put stuff into collections now i didn’t know American Psycho had a sequel ha, also black panther has been put into a collection on its own is that because there is a sequel scheduled ?
A few more questions if i may… is there a way to add extras and have them show up in plex correctly ?
Is there a way to have synopsis/information in the collection instead of just showing the movies ?

No, that’s one of the reasons why this check box is off by default. Some overzealous editors at TMDB put every movie into its own collection. Just for the sake of it.

Hi is there anyway to have a film in 2 different collections, but have it show a different poster in each collection ? For e.g how to train your dragon, i want to have in a dreamworks collection and its own how to train your dragon collection.
A movie can be in different collections. However each collection will show the same poster for that movie.

If you must have different posters for a movie in different collections – yes… you’ll need to have 2 items.
May I ask what you’re trying to achieve with this?
If that’s really what you need and you’re on a Linux/Unix based system you could create a hard link to that file in a 2nd folder. That way you won’t need twice the storage for that secondary file.
No i have my plex server on windows, its just i have some movies in there own collection for e.g w&g then i have the same movie in a dreamworks collection and just wanted to have different posters, then the dreamworks collection will have the same format of posters and so will the collection. if cant be done then no big deal just thought id ask thanks
