I believe this will only work for new items that are added to your library. For items you already have, you would either need to added them manually or do the Plex Dance which will remove them from the library and recreate them.

still, nothing, i have recreated the library, made sure the box was ticked so plex makes collections and when done i hovered over my library and advanced to make sure it shows the collections, still nothing

Got to a movie that should be in a collection, click Edit, click Tags, scroll down -> Is there anything listed in the Collections tag?

If the answer is yes to that, have you made the appropriate settings in the edit library to group them:

none of the movies that should be in collections say anything in the collection tag, none and i have like 900 or so and that advanced edit library is set up just fine, so what the crap is the deal

so movies like all the rockys and cars movies dont belong together? also i have over 900 movies with tons that belong in collections, i am not doing it manually, refreshing metadata does nothing either

and again there is nothing being generated

does no one haave a clue whats going on?

here you go

it sais that i added the attachment, but not sure its up, i dont see it

This checkbox exists in 2 places. Depending on which metadata agent you used to match your movies, you might have to set it in both places:

Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie - click on the ‘cog wheel’ icon at the end of the line ‘Plex Movie’

and also
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - The Movie Database - click on the ‘cog wheel’ icon at the end of the line ‘The Movie Database’

side notes:
A wrestling show is not a ‘movie’. There won’t be any metadata for those.

Plex can only find metadata for movies it can recognise. Baewatch an Parody is not only spelled wrong, but is also not a movie, even if you correct the spelling.

Searching for Baywatch Parody reveals that this is an episode from the TV show ‘Girls Comedy’.
Searching for Babewatch Parody finds an episode from a different tv show.
But tv shows are also not movies.

well that fixed it, i feel stupid, i didnt have both boxes clicked for collections, thank you guys for all the help

And, there is no way to use the Folder Structure as a Collection ?
I already have everything properly set up in the Files themselves…
For instances, folder Movies (Library) > “Die Hard” (Collection aka Folder) > folder “Die Hard 1” (Contains movie, art, bonus content, SRT files, …) and then folders for “Die Hard 2” with the same setup.

However Plex completely ignores this…
For instance, for James Bond now i have 10 movies spread across my Library !?
Nobody wants to manually re-create their Collections in Plex manually.
In my case i’m not interested in Online Collections… For instance i dont wanna group Iron Man, i wanna group Marvel…

I am quite disappointed that this standard folder structure is completely ignored.
Plex could easily create these Collections automatically by Folder structure…

Also, for Series it’s completely broken:
Series (Library) > “Stargate” (Folder aka Collection) > Folders for each of the series like “SG-1”, “Atlantis”, “Universe”, “Infinity”…
The Series library only shows “SG-1”, shows the bio from SG-1 but plays episodes from the “Infinity” series …
But when i add a seperate Library for Stargate, it does tend to work… This is super buggy
I shouldn’t need to Micro Manage any of this !

There is not.

Do you know why Plex removed the Folder View “Play All” for videos? It used to be there. I can only “Play All” when in Grid View or List View now which completely breaks how almost everyone used Plex. Source: These forums and the complaint threads asking where it went. :stuck_out_tongue:

This post was so helpful.

Additional tip: once you’ve done this, hover over the “Movies” line on the sidebar, click the “…” and select “Refresh All Metadata”. This will warn that it may take some time (around a couple of seconds per file), but your collections will start appearing like magic .
