While it won’t Direct Play, it will Direct Stream. It takes the streams and remixes them from a .ts stream to .mkv, otherwise, it’s exactly the same, and you should be able to use the HW decoding, I believe.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to take advantage of the mpeg-2 license installed in the pi config for HW decoding even with direct stream. However, after a show is recorded it will direct play them with HW decoding. If you need any more info I’d be glad to help troubleshoot. Thanks!
I’ve compiled PMP-E for the RPIi 3 B+, links below.
https://ufile.io/7307g - PlexMediaPlayer-2.18.0.1-9fb08e6a.RPi2-arm.tar
https://ufile.io/0gxy0 - PlexMediaPlayer-2.18.0.1-9fb08e6a.RPi2-arm.img.gz
Thanks! Any idea on when this will become a full public release?
@Tilton53 On second thought, I’m not getting past the rainbow screen with the 2.18 build, while the 2.10 build works just fine on my 3B+. Any change you could check again?
Process: Download *.img --> flash with Etcher --> boot into RP3B+
Hi, i was trying to build the latest release for PI3 b+ following your tutorial. I keep getting this error:
UNPACK bzip2
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Makefile:12: recipe for target ‘image’ failed
make: *** [image] Error 2
I really can’t figure out why. Any ideas?
Update: Solved it. the script was downloading the wrong package. i compiled successfully version 2.19 running on pi3 b+. so far so good…
@justmango82 would it be possible for you to send me your *.img in some way?
yeah, no problem. is it allowed for me to put a link here?
Don’t know tbh, could you send it to me via DM?
let me know if the link works.
enjoy
Yep, link worked and just flashed it to my pi and that works perfectly as well! Thank you a lot!
@justmango82 would you be able to DM this image as well? I have been having zero luck booting up PMP-E on RI2 with a number of versions - always get the rainbow screen.
You’re allowed to post the builds here.
Are you able to post new links for these? I tried to download but it says that the free hosting period for them has expired or do you have a working build for 2.20?
hey hey
the free link period has expired, it says I have to pay now
Any chance you could upload a working image for the 3b+ again?
thanks in advance
Andreas
I tried the version PlexMediaPlayer-2.20.0.920-50730a07.RPi2-arm.img.gz on my raspberry 3b+. Should this work on raspbi 3b+? I couldn’t get it running, stuck in the rainbow screen
Yeah me too. Waste of time
Has anyone been able to get 2.x to build for raspberry pi3?
I’ve tried the manual steps, and get blocked at Step 8, where the build process doesn’t recognize arm or RPi2 as a valid architecture.
When I try the docker image, the build step of that fails saying it can’t build as root user. I’ve tried to shift the docker image, and have it build as a different user, but that also fails.
Was hoping to try the raspberry pi3 with plex Media Player embedded to see if it helps with the interface lag that I’ve seen with the Ras Pi2, when using 2.20. I much prefer the Plex 2.x interface compared to the 1.13 official interface, but haven’t been able to get it to work on the pi3 yet.
If anyone would be able to assist, it would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
-Jeff
I got 2.10 to work on my Pi 3 B+. Not sure what the differences are from 2.10 to 2.20 though.
PlexMediaPlayer-2.21.0.923-2356884c.RPi2-arm
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 64-bit 1GB RAM
- Slow
- Display errors - not clear background
- Display errors - flashing
- Display errors - app is bigger than the screen size
I do not know if I am doing something wrong that it does not work correctly?
