It might have minimal impact on performance, but the problem does seem to stop the 5 hard drives in my NAS from hibernating, That makes it more of a problem with noise, power usage and wear and tear Etc.
Actually, spinning up and down all those drives frequently will be reducing their lifetime significantly. So much so, that the savings in electricity are completely eaten up by the price for having to buy new drives much earlier.
(Particularly if you are using “NAS-grade” drives.)
